Using Backstory

Backstory is a publishing and reading platform for the stories, context, craft, and materials behind music. By using Backstory, you agree to use the service lawfully and respectfully, and not to interfere with the platform or other users.

Artist Accounts

Artist users are responsible for the content they publish, including text, images, audio, links, gear references, and other materials. Artists should only upload or publish work they own, have permission to use, or are otherwise legally allowed to share.

Artists keep ownership of their work. Backstory needs a limited license to host, display, distribute, format, and promote published artist pages and related materials through the platform.

Fan Accounts

Fan users may read published pages, follow artists, and receive notifications about new artist publishing. Fans may not copy, scrape, redistribute, or commercially exploit artist content unless they have permission from the rights holder.

Platform Content

Backstory may remove content or restrict accounts when content is unlawful, infringing, misleading, abusive, spammy, or otherwise harmful to the service or its users.

Service Changes

Backstory may update features, availability, and these Terms over time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the last updated date on this page.
